Marble
Marble is a quarried metamorphic rock that naturally takes a high shine. Colors range from dark with deeply colored veins to pristine whites. Each variety may be honed to the point that you can see your reflection in them. A naturally honed marble floor, staircase, counter top, or fountain should shine with regular maintenance, without any waxes or sealers.
Marble contains calcite (or calcium) in compact crystalline form. It is filled facets which reflect light in easy to spot faces. Marble can be either soft or hard. In some cases it is nearly as hard as granite, while traffic patterns from walking can show up after little time on others.
